Maher Hasan

Aleppo, 1969

In the mountains north west of Aleppo, Maher loved to paint the beautiful and mysterious landscape that surrounded him. Until he had to leave.
In his recent paintings, Maher focuses on human figures derived from his dreams and fantasies. There is not always a difference between feminine and masculine forms because it is solely his intention to represent “humans”. The person in his work is naked, stripped of all protection and identity. For him, this symbolizes freedom, honest emotions without double layers.
